It’s International Podcast Day! Peter Pop and Nadir Pop are back with new podcast recommendations.

Nadir Pop’s picks

Stories From Among the Stars. Nadir is a huge sci-fi reader and when he discovered The Three Body problem in audio format by Chinese author Liu Cixin, he binge heard it in less than a week. It’s a trilogy and the story is about an alien super-species that was invited to take over Earth because humans didn’t deserve it. Very dark, but very entertaining.

ThroughLine by NPR, a historical podcast, features in Nadir’s TOP 5 podcasts. It’s hosted by Ramtin Arablouei and Rund Abdelfatah. Most of the stories revolve around politics which have directly or indirectly affected USA. They’ve covered so many interesting events about Venezuela, the history of Afghanistan, the history of Israel, so many interesting topics.

Dr. Death – Americans really know how to produce their true crime and this crime docu series is so well drawn out. Dr. Death is one such podcast. It’s just a very freaky series and sad at the same time. And throughout the series, you keep hearing about Dr. Duntsch and the number of people he has killed. The interesting part is that you hear the story not through him but through his family, friends, colleagues, batchmates and patients. These are the ones who actually built the story around this murderer.

Peter Pop’s picks

“King of the World”: A seven-part podcast series about a Pakistani American Muslim teenager who comes of age post-9/11 and, twenty years later, tries to figure out what the hell happened to him and to us. Hosted by Shahjehan Khan.

377 is a scripted narrative podcast about the legal action and accompanying social movement against Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. Pretty cool podcast from All Things Small.

Passenger list. A mystery thriller podcast from PRX’s Radiotopia. The show is about the Atlantic Flight 702 that has disappeared mid-flight between London and New York with 256 passengers on board. Kaitlin Le, a college student whose twin brother vanished with the flight, is determined to uncover the truth.
